The Talent Behind The Reputation
Ms. Christensen received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Speech Communication from Iowa State University as well as a Master of Arts degree in Speech Pathology from Truman State University. She worked as a speech-language pathologist in the schools, medical settings, and private practice until she founded Speech Advantage in 1999.
Ms. Christensen is the author of Accent Freedom®, an in-depth accent reduction software program developed by Speech Advantage® designed to improve American English pronunciation through self-study or instructor-led lessons. Barb has traveled nationally as well as internationally to work with corporate clients to improve their American English clarity so they can communicate more effectively with co-workers, clients, and colleagues.


Our Passion
Additionally, Barb has authored numerous published articles as well as spoken at state and national conventions about accent modification techniques and corporate speech practices. She is a former national trainer for the Institute of Language and Phonology – Training Division, where she traveled the U.S. to teach accent modification workshops to other speech professionals who wanted to offer this specialty area as part of their individual businesses. Ms. Christensen served on the Executive Board of the Corporate Speech Pathology Network (Corspan), an international corporate speech organization, for five years during which time she served in the offices of president and secretary.
